Hi, I’m Cordy! I started making granola at home (that's our kitchen where we started) because my children needed a healthy snack for their active lifestyles, and we weren’t happy with what was available on the market.
My children loved my homemade granola – just sweet enough, not as dry as all the other brands, not over done with seeds and flavors – and soon I couldn’t make it fast enough for them.
My boys are very involved in competitive rowing. Nate (my oldest son) started taking large bowls of our granola to rowing regattas where he was coaching. The rowers – and their parents – became big fans. Everyone kept asking “Where can I buy it?!”
So, we decided to put our homemade granola in bags and sell it at the Maritime Rowing Club in South Norwalk CT – that’s where my boys learned to row and where they trained and coached.
We were selling lots of granola to the rowers. Then the athletes started bringing in orders from their friends at school. And parents started placing orders for themselves and their friends. Over and over we were asked the same question… “Where can I buy it!“ We realized that our granola wasn’t just a great energy and recovery food for competitive athletes, but it was granola for anybody who wants a healthy snack.
The family got together and decided – we have to do this! And that’s how we started Kelly’s Four Plustm.
We still make our granola in small batches and hand-bake it like we did in our kitchen at home. And we still sell to our friends at Maritime Rowing Club. But now we are working from our own commercial kitchen – near the boathouse in South Norwalk – and we are selling our granola throughout the North East / North Atlantic, Greater New York Metropolitan area, a few select locations in the South East, and starting to extend to the upper Mid-West. So why Four Plustm?
All of our flavors start with four healthy ingredients: 100% whole grain rolled oats, all natural non-gmo expeller pressed canola oil, all natural honey, and pure maple syrup. To this we add dried fruit, raw nuts, dark chocolate, and natural flavorings to create our current 6 flavors (3 of them are nut-free). And all of our products are gluten-free.
Whether it’s for breakfast, a snack at the office, before or after a workout, or any time at all, "eat it for your health, love it for the taste!"
